Coaching Pedagogy
This development group will explore how coaching, understood as a ‘way of relating’ that places individuals at the centre of a more facilitative and empowering learning process, can be recognised as a key learner-centred pedagogical approach applicable to all levels of learning. We will ask: What does it mean to teach with coaching principles at the heart of our pedagogy? How does this shift our presence, our role, and our relationships in the learning environment?
Together, we will:
-
Examine scholarly and practice-based perspectives on coaching in teaching and learning
-
Explore how coaching principles can shape pedagogic practice across disciplines
-
Reflect on the educator’s presence, mindset, and relational stance in coaching-informed teaching
-
Co-develop a working definition and framework for coaching as pedagogy
-
Generate examples, resources, and case studies to support wider implementation
This group is for anyone interested in more dialogic, facilitative, and relational approaches to learning. Whether you're already using coaching techniques in your teaching or are simply curious, you're warmly invited to join us in shaping this growing conversation.
